Yes. VPNs are legal in Denmark for private and business use.

The Danish internet is open, but courts and regulators do set some blocks. Since the Pirate Bay case, upheld by the Supreme Court in 2010, internet providers block sites that a court finds to infringe copyright, and the gambling authority Spillemyndigheden has unlicensed betting sites blocked. Some people try to get around blocks like these with a VPN or proxy, but the rules do not change because of that, so it is worth being careful.

VPNs came up in December 2025, when a draft copyright bill contained a section on VPN use. The Ministry of Culture removed that section after the public consultation.

A VPN does two technical things: it encrypts your traffic and shows the IP address of the location you pick. The law and the terms of each service still apply. For the basics, see what a VPN is and how it works, or get started with Browsec VPN.
